Parks & Recreation

Recreation activities in Marion center on church and youth activities, with the city’s 100-plus acre recreation complex at the heart of the spring, summer, and fall recreation picture.

Youth sports programs include the Marion Youth Sports Association (baseball, football, basketball and soccer), the Marion Amateur Softball Association (softball), Junior and Senior Babe Ruth (baseball), the American Legion (baseball), as well as the East Arkansas Lady Lakers (AAU basketball) which all provide competitive venues for more than 2,000 youngsters each year.

The new recreation complex offers three softball fields and two baseball fields, with space already prepared to develop another five fields; four other T-ball and baseball fields are located in K&R Park in downtown Marion, while two more softball fields are located at Colonial Park. The high school baseball field also doubles as the home of senior Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball in the summer. In addition, Marion First Baptist Church offers a basketball league.

The Marion parks system also offers walking trails, a fishing lake, a skate park, playgrounds and passive green space for picnicking or other outside activities. A nature trail with interpretive kiosks follows the bank of Marion Lake, an old Mississippi River chute.

And don’t forget about the Marion Golf and Athletic Club. It offers an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, and a swimming pool for members.
